First Trunk or Treat

Have you been Trunk or Treating before? I hadn't until the other night & it was quite an experience. We went to one on base for its exposure. I was told of others closer to our house but running the risk of it being only a handful of cars, I decided to go to the one on base because there had to be MORE than enough cars & our friends were going.

It was advertised being 'open' 4-7pm & we arrived around 445ish? Not really knowing what we were driving to, we were hoping we didn't miss any opening madness. NOPE.

Doesn't even do this place justice. So many people.

There were lines upon lines upon lines of families literally waiting to walk past trunks of cars. CLARIFICATION: Trunk or Treating is people decorating the trunks of their vehicles (much like you would a porch) & hand out candy. After explaining it to a friend that morning, she did bring it to my attention how hypocritical it is when we tell kids to not accept candy from strangers in cars.. Like specifically that LOL. Obviously not what's intended but still funny to think about.

He's still learning the ins & outs of this trike but he stays comfy regardless LOL

If you didn't realize it yet, we went as a family of Pumpkins / Jack O Lanterns. Matt really couldn't get on board with ANY costume because he thinks doing anything with Jackson at this age is pointless but obviously, I fought that.

Jackson hated the Pumpkin hat so his trusty NOXX beanie saved his ears.

The trike was a great concept, however, Jackson was over it in 10 min because A. we were standing in a line / not moving & B. he can't reach the pedals yet so he's literally just along for the ride. We quickly put it back in the NEW VAN (still on the high) & traded out his beanies.

Even though I'm sure Jackson will have no recollection of this, it's still nice to start the tradition of family costumes from the beginning. Also, this was our first Trunk or Treats ever so the experience is different too! It's unfortunate our house isn't in a Trick or Treating friendly area (no sidewalks, on a busy road & no kids) but it's nice to know this will always be an option. Plus Matt may not get home from work in time on Halloween so this was most likely our family Trick or Treating for the year. Yay for starting traditions & Trunk or Treating! Maybe I'll decorate the van next year!!
